Otago Innovation Limited helps University of Otago Researchers get their big ideas out there. They do this by helping them find a way to transfer their technology from the University to the broader world.
Technology Transfer is the process of transferring skills, knowledge, technologies and methods from the University of Otago to ensure that these are targeted and accessible to a wider range of users. These users (which may be a business for example) can then further develop the technology into new products, processes, applications, materials or services.
We look at all sorts of ideas – products, services, mobile apps, medical devices, novel therapies, ebooks, therapeutics and diagnostics just to name a few. The skills of the team are not only complementary but also divergent, with over 56 years of combined experience in transferring big ideas to the real world.
The Otago Innovation team is stable, highly experienced and has a strong reputation and track record for delivering commercialisation outcomes. Our CE, Colin Dawson, is a 11 year veteran of University commercialisation. David Christensen, our Senior Commercialisation Manager, has 9 yrs commercialisation experience. Four of the team are Ph.D. qualified but also carry strong practical business experience.
